Title: “In the Hands of Love II, Joshua Tree”
Painting Description & Insights
After weeks of confinement, I crave open spaces with no restrictions. When everything becomes brittle around me, I need softness. With physical contact restricted, the urge to touch takes over.
The inspiration for this painting came during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The vast desert with no barriers and no restrictions. The soft desert sky where the colours merge together, changing and adapting. The sunlight is caught and reflected back. The enticing texture of the Joshua Tree is gently rubbed with gold, consideration and gratitude in my fingertips.
To see the texture and details of this desert landscape please look at the below photos. “In the Hands of Love II, Joshua Tree” explores the beauty and balance of negative space on positive space; how one enhances the other.
If you like this style, have a look at my other paintins “Australian Sunburst, Grass Tree” or the original “In the Hands of Love, Joshua Tree”, and if you want more information about this subject matter, have a look at the Joshua Tree National Park website.
To accent the thick texture of the Joshua Tree, it was finished with a gold metallic rub to create a lustre. The body of the painting is acrylic and mixed media on professional artist grade canvas.
