When I started thinking about what to call this painting, all my ideas ran towards autumn inspired words.

Then, as the paint dried and it sat on my easel, the light coming through the studio window changed. Day turned to night, natural light changed to artificial, and I moved around the room.

I was captivated by the changing colours, the metallic highlights making it glow.

The more I looked, the more I saw, the more intrigued and drawn into the painting I became. So I decided to invite you to “Take a Closer Look”.

The closer you look the more detail you’ll see. The layers of paint where you see through a window of one layer down to the one below. The thick acrylic applied with a palette knife, adding texture and its own patch of intrigue.

So, even though this painting was inspired by autumn trees and falling leaves, rich reds, oranges and golds, it became so much more. Take a closer look and let it draw you in.

Note about the colours – This painting has proven to be extremely difficult to photograph. If I add too much light, the metallic highlights are bleached out and turn white. Not enough light and the painting becomes very dark. The camera in this case, does not reflect what the eye sees. For this reason, I’ve added multiple photos, angles and videos, which will hopefully enable you to understand the changing nature of this painting.
